Myths about relaxed hair

  1. There is so much talk about when and how much hair you should get trimmed off each month. Well I'm here to tell you some good news....NONE. You not only do not need to get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks but in reality, you only need your hair trimmed if trying to maintain a certain style or want a more even look. Yes, if you prefer your strands to be fuller to the ends, then by all means get a trim more frequently. Or if your ends are damaged and split, then yes you do need a trim to get rid of the damage. But once your hair is back healthy again, there is no need for any of that.
  2. when is it time for another touch-up? This answer varies a lot on how fast your hair grows and how much new growth is there, but it most certainly is never going to be every 4 weeks! Your hair's structure is being chemically altered every time you get a relaxer, so it is important to make sure to wait awhile before getting your next touch-up. Preferably, every 6-8 weeks (see a trend? lol) but personally I like to wait about 9 weeks. It all depends on you.
  3. Greasing your scalp is Not good for your hair. It clogs up your pores (just like it would do on your skin) and stunts growth. Now if you want to moisturize your scalp, you should use light oils, that are naturally found. Such as olive oil, jojoba oil, argan oil and/or carrot oil.
